Sorry I got the fold down rear seat.
There is an annoying vibration noise coming from the head rest which contains the fold down switch every time I go over the smallest bump.
I have the fold down rear seats, have used them several times, and have had no noise issues.

There are 2 switches in the trunk to fold down the seats--one for each side of the seat. The "head rest which contains the fold down switch" you refer to--is it the center headrest? If so, that's a switch to lower the center arm rest--standard on the E60--nothing to do with the folding seats.

An option that I miss here, really useful when you go to IKEA.

Does anyone happen to have a pic of the rear seats folded down? How flat do they sit against the seat bottoms?

Go for it. You only have advantages with it. i have it and only used it for a couple of times but if necessary it's there. And the middle head rest is nicer that the non folding seats.

I don't have a picture but they sit close to flat. They angle back towards the rear just a bit...I bit more than they did in the E39...

They are great when you need them. In the e39 you lost some structure but now the car is as solid with them as without.

I dont have it and have never really thought about it til now. I have a Honda Odyssey and an Acura MDX for hauling the really big stuff.

What I should have gotten was heated rear seats.
