I have them and would not be without them; if you have a long item, you can fold just one side down. I think i can get 2.5 metres without a problem.
I recommend you order them

I think fold down rear seat is very useful with those who has girlfriend. It makes a perfect flat bed a couple.

This should be std. Not an option. What a rip-off!
They are - on the Touring (wagon)!

Plus you get a nicer looking car with them for free...

e60 is my first car without a split seats. So far I don't have the need to use it, but winter is coming, I don't know what should I do with my snowboard.
This is exactly my situation. I got a car that does not have split back seats. My first of this kind. And as winter is coming, I'd rather put my snowboard in the trunk, instead on the roof. Anyone knows if the load-through and the ski sac are retrofittable?

Can anyone post pics of the difference in the headrest and the arm rest of the fold down vs. the non-fold down seats?

Here are a few I found in the forums:

Non fold-down seat armrest with storage compartment lid closed:

Non fold-down seat armrest with storage compartment lid open:

Fold-down seat armrest with cupholder cover open:

Fold-down seat armrest flipped up showing center headrest:

As you can see, the biggest difference is that the cupholders have a hinged cover with the fold-down seats because the cupholders are higher and would show from the rear window...

Rudy---thanks----that's great to see. Sounds like the pros outweigh the cons to me. I'll be adding it to my order.

You need to change your E60 to a E61

That way you get some room for tthe action, as well

Bought my E60 used and didn't have a chance to order the split seats. Having owned the car for several months this is one option I would DEFINITELY get! The trunk is way too small! I play ice hockey and can't fit a hockey stick anywhere in the E60 except in the back seat! The trunk barely holds my gear! I had to buy a Jeep so I can take it when I play. The E60 trunk is good for my brief case but not much else. Get the split seats!!!!!
