My 545i was completed on Feb 10th, but still reports "Awaiting Transport" on the BMW Owner's Circle web site. From other posts here and on other boards, I've seen anywhere from 2 to 7 days between production and shipment. How frequently do vessels depart from Germany loaded with new BMW's? Is it normal for a car to sit 2 weeks without shipping?

Yes, I'm very anxious to get my 545!!!

Don't count on owners circle for most up to date info. I recieved a call from the dealer stating the car was there when owners circle still said it was still in transport. It can be anywhere from 1-2 weeks behind.

Yes owners circle is probably wrong.

Go to

http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/Toolbox/Ap...cking/index.jsp

Then go to track by auto.

Enter your VIN from Owners circle.

This will give you the ship your car is on and the arrival date when you go to voyage itinerary.

This will work if the car has been loaded on the ship.

Yes, I've also been checking my VIN on w2global.com and it has no record of it yet.

I am curious how often the ships depart. I read on w2global that their vessels can hold up to 6000 cars on 13 decks, which must take some time to load.

If a ship left the port the day before my car arrived, I wonder how long it would take to load up the next ship before they depart?

I found the definitive answer on w2global.com under the Route Maps link. The ships depart for the US West Coast every 10 days.

Dang, that's like twice as far than a car going to the east coast. Anyone know how long it takes to leave Europe and get into that Southern Ca port? I think I have read 2 weeks, but...
