Just back from a service visit where 3 different PUMA cases were opened on my 545i. Thanks to all of you on this board, I was loaded for bear as I laid out my issues:

-Noisy Runflats (2nd set)-PUMA case
-Harsh 2-1 downshifts-PUMA case
-CD plays when system off (muted) after starting car and Idrive booted up-PUMA case
-Door seal creak (2nd complaint)

Downshift issue resolved by a laptop loaded w/ special sofware sent from the fatherland used to reprogram transmission. Issue resolved

CD player issue apparently is to be addressed with next software release. Resolve @ next visit

Door Seals not replaced, but "lubricated". Issue resolved

And last but definitely lease Dunlop RunFlats replaced. This set had about 12K miles and had been getting progressively louder over last 2K miles. Car has 20K total miles. They had the irregular inner tread wear pattern. Initially the BMW Field Service Engineer denied replacement based on his evaluation that the tires made a "little" noise, were over half worn, and had no defects. He also knew I had had these replaced once, and was reluctant for whatever reason to approve this again. I went into high gear when notified by my SA of this, and asked him if the FSE had a copy of SIB 36 02 05. He indicated that it didnt matter to dude. I promptly emailed (thanks E60.net) a copy of said SIB w/cover note mentioning high points. Shortly thereafter I rec'd an email from my SA indicating that the FSE had now reversed decison and RunFlat replacement approved. They replaced with identical Dunlop's, not the Bridgestone's others have recieved. MY SA told me afterward that as long as this SIB exists that each and every time the RF's become noisy, and fit other SIB criteria I can fully expect a new set. Now that is what I call customer service.

Lesson Learned-Be prepared to to hand over this document to your dealer as they may not take the time to review the detail therein on their own. Here is the link to SIB:

I'm starting to hear mine a little more again. They're not very loud just yet but I'm betting that I'll be able to get one more free replacement set before lease-end.

No complaints here...

Dang, free new tires every 19,000 miles, what a deal I am paying $1600 (w/ full roadhazard ins) for my 4 Bridgestones at 29,000. Actually I probably have 4-5k left in fronts, but just seems wrong not to replace all 4 at same time. Want to be in top shape for Tail of Dragon drives in October Had them shipped to dealer from Tire Rack and they are mounting this Friday.

Beware the lubrication of seals. They tried that on mine with BMW Silicon Remover. It only lasted a couple of days, even after I bought a bottle and re-applied myself.

Finally got new seals. No more creaking

For now...

As with many others here, my replacement seals are creaking too.

My car has the same issue with the CD, they said they couldn't reproduce it! I think they just didn't understand. It pauses when you mute it while driving, it's starts playing muted after a restart.

I also had door seals replaced and they haven't started creaking again.

I also had the runflats replaced. I hope they replace them again if the car has over 20K miles. It does say "tires have less than 20K miles".

Exactly. They will keep replacing the tires based on tire mileage, not car mileage...

Same exact scenario for my CD, wait til your next service and hit it again!

For whatever reason my dealer chooses to replace seals once, then lubricate. I chose not to push issue and see how the lube works.

Key with runflats is that they A. Have irregular inner tread wear pattern, B. have less than 20K miles (car mileage is irrelevant), and C.YOU find noise objectionable......
