I took out the 5yr service inclusive pack on my uk car (registered 18.9.03) and I'm wondering whether there is difference in service intervals on cars with and without service inclusive.

My old 5 series (e39) had a new set of pads and discs every time it was serviced
My E60 has now done 39,000 Miles and stil is 6,000 away from front pads.

I used to get called every time my e39 went in to ask if I wanted to replace the pollen filters. My e60 looks like it will have gone to the sun and back before it needs a new set.

I am poised to go to war with BMW over squeaking breaks and a smell coming out of the air vents that can only be described as cats pi** but when I talk to my dealer he just wants to talk about replacing air filters (chargeable) because they are not due for replacement and they even had the bare faced cheek to charge me ?70 to clean brake dust of my breaks to stop them squeeling like a stuck pig again a non warranty Item.

Sorry about the rant but I just feel a bit agreived at driving a 36 grand car that squeels like a pig and smells like cat pi** and neither warranty or service inclusive covers theese issues

Bizarre, I've done 13k miles and it reckons I've got 8k miles before both front and back pads need replacing... How did yours 'countdown'?

I never noticed how it counted down because until the brakes started squeeling i never really looked I think I noticed the squeeling at around 16k and at the time the fronts and rears had about 6 k left now were at 29k and the fronts have 6k and the rears 11k.
just out of interest do you have service inclusive?

Yeh I got mine for ?750 was reading on this forum that the 5 year pack goes for ?1,300 now, guess they reckon they got the math wrong with that one!

Have you had any problems with squeeling brakes or bad smell from the vents yet ?

i hope you know mind I join your conversation. Mine is a used car and I have a deal with 3 years/ 40,000 miles free service. (not the service inclusive package). Just had the 25000 miles serviced today. As the idrive shows the brake pads will last for another 7000 miles, My next service internal now shows 7000 miles. Which means I now have to take the car back to the dealer in a few months time. Not sure what you guys think about this "condition based service" as we need to visit the dealer more often.

Yes, I do have the smell too when the engine & air con is started at the first few seconds. I think this is a nature of all aircon as it happened in all my previous cars. It is normal and has something to do with the micro-filter, I would leave it until the next service and let them change it at their cost next time.

Scarey, going to Munich to pick a 530xi & 330i. My E302 (1999) require brakes at 56k. 25k for brakes seems strange to me?
Are Bimmer's brakes that different from Mercs?
