In your manual it tells you how to get to your Condition Based Service (CBS)menu. It should show your when your oil service is due. However, as EBMCS03 stated you could have a fault with this system. You are probably due now so get in to dealer for oil change and a check of your CBS system.

In the US '05 manual - page 66-67 describe how to check these items, and also page 180 has more info.

My Ride: 2005 525i Titanium Silver Metalic and 2003 325xi Jet Black with the Premium Package in both cars.

I would tend to believe there is a problem, 16 K is pretty high for an oil change on a 545 which I'm sure you don't drive like your sightseeing. Get it check now, you don't want a load of sludge building up early in your car's life.
