Also - anyone that is tracking steel (and soon, plastics) prices can see that the future prices of BMW's (and any cars) is going to go way up very soon.

"The one time that I got the Active Steering Failure message a quick restart solved it and all has been well for the last month or so.
The one time that I got the Steering Fault message I ended up with a loaner for 8 days and a new steering rack.
I hope yours is the 1st and not the latter. "
I've enjoyed my May 2004 545i for 8,000 miles now with absolutely no problems whatsoever (knock on wood). At this point, any car you order will have at least two years production behind it - they should have had time to address pretty much all the issues they are aware of.
