Okay, having been driving my 520 for a couple of weeks now, I was thinking that some value to those who've not yet taken the plunge might be to hear from those who have already taken delivery regarding choices made (remember: the US models seem to have some of this as standard so, well, never mind)
Specifically, what I wish I had in the car and would have had had finances not reared it's ugly head (and not including things that were supposed to be there, like TMC, etc.), in no particular order
1. Active Cruise Control
2. Parking Distance Control
3. Upgraded seats - standard is not bad but lack of seat memory is a bad thing
4. Pro Nav - businessNav is excellent but of course Pro is preferred)
5. advanced A/C
6. 3l diesel engine
Thought this might be useful to anyone trying to decide - others, feel free to add to the list

My car doesn't arrive till March 17 - but I agree - I wish I had the upgraded air con - because the missus likes her side about 10 deg C hotter!

Skidster: Why would you lament not getting active cruise? I would think this would be one of the least-ordered options for BMW owners. Other than the gee-whiz factor, it seems potentially dangerous to me. Great idea for a post, especially for those of us that can still change our orders!

This is my configuration
European model (Belgium)
530d
* Automatic Transmission
* 124 Wheels
* Logic 7
* ServoTronic
* BMW Professional Phone
* Exclusive Line:
=> Professional Navigation
=> Advanced AC
=> PDC
=> Xenon lights
=> Leather Dakota
=> Heated Front Seats
=> Voice Control
=> 6 CD Changer
I'm still able to change my order.
The following options are still on my mind:
* Comfort Seats (in my opinion too expensive)
* Automatic 'closing' side-mirrors
What do you guys think??

dvw: I've had the comfort seats for a few years now in my 2000 540i. They are/were reputed to be the most comfortable car seat anywhere on the planet. I agree completely with that judgement and would never go back. They're worth every penny, imsho. On longer trips, you are kept awake, comfortable, relaxed, and refreshed, to the last 1/8 mile! Again, just my SHO (sometimes humble opinion).

I begun the configuration of my 530d with maximum sound option as if it was standard.

Now that i drive my car for allmost 4 months, if i were to reconfigure it all over again i have to say that i would start with the comfort seats, the sunroof the active steering and only then the maximum sound option in that exact order.
Other things that i really like are the ventilated seats (they will make every cent in the summer), heated steering wheel, remote heating/ventilation.
As for the topic's subject, i wish i had bigger rims, bluetooth (was not available at the time i ordered my car with bmw proff. phone instead) and maybe HUD. And navigation if it were available in my country

Most of those options are standard in the US cars. They are part of the Premium package and Sports Pacakge.
3 things I would had wish I ordered are :
1- Folding rear seats
2- Navigation System
3- V8--545 (almost $10K more) Maybe a chip and intake will do
The heated seat options and cold weather package are useless here in Florida. Most of the year is in the 80s Faranheit.

But I tell you I love the anti-dazzle side mirrors!
Question for European owners with the standard AC - does your fan speed operate auto or only manually? Mine does not seem to be slowed down when it auto mode - it seems to stay where i've selected it...
which makes me wish I had the advanced AC... BMW went a little sleazy-cheap withdrawing items that were previously standard (and, hence, expected or missed) such as park-distance control and full auto AC
