My car is parked in Midtown Manhattan and I am looking for an alternative to the dealership.

In an ideal world, it's a short drive to Queens or Brooklyn and its near a subway shop. I have to have my suspension inspected as its making some noises and I am out of warranty.

Thanks!

When I used to live in NYC I used a guy on Northern BLVD in Queens. He was Korean and GREAT!!!! He also drove a 7 series so he is familiar with our cars. He owns the place, it has a 24 hr tire repair on the corner of Northern an on the side street is his bays. The place doesn't look like much but he did great work on every car I owned and he was ALWAYS reasonable with his rates, never tried to give you service you didn't need and always had the car ready when he said he would. Go there ask for Mr. Kim - he's a pretty big guy and he will take good care of you.

This person is super:

J&E Auto Center
252 No. Main St.
Freeport, NY 11520
516 379 7389

The guy's name is Lloyd Cunningham. He picks up and then delivers your vehicle to the garage where it is parked.
He is incredibly competent and scrupulously honest. He works with a number of clients in the city. 5 stars!

You just pretty much didn't narrow it down for Kyle to find a mechanic... Korean on Northern Blvd? hahaha. =) Its ok. There's plenty of mechanics here in queens.

Really? When I lived there it was mostly Dominican neighborhood, and besides it WAS the only 24 hr tire shop on Northern right by Shea - wonder if it's still there with the new stadium and all?

Dude, Northern blvd is from the beginning of queens in Long Island City... to almost the other end of Long Island.

I did say right by Shea (or where She used to be), it is right before northern blvd turns into a bridge around shea (when you're going east).

He said near Shea which is between Flushing and Corona section. But I agreed with Mike, pjinca needs to more specific. There are a lot of Mr. Kims on Northern Blvd.

Are you talking about that whole strip of chop shops across from Shea?

Yeah, but only 1 24 hr tire shop on Northern before it turns into an overpass behind what used to be Shea stadium. If it helps the sign says in huge yellow and red letters 24 HR TIRE
