My Ride: 545Ai, Silver grey, black, poplar, Sport Pkg, Logic 7, Comfort seats, Nav, HUD, PDC, rear shades, and satellite radio
After much introspection I went ahead and placed my order for a 545i today. I wanted to take a moment say hi to all, and thank you for your useful information on this forum which helped in my decision and reach the best price I could in my area. With a second child here in a couple of weeks, a 911 seems much smaller and less practical than it had only a short while ago. To me the BMW offers the best combination of performance, safety and comfort.
My local BMW dealer would not discount on '05s at all which is pretty much true for a lot of Texas, but with the Rizzo technique posted on the forum I was able to get a $3K discount I probably would not have otherwise 45 minutes away. I have to admit I am going to be a little sad to see me 911 go in a couple of days (I am using it in the deal as a trade), but hopefully I will feel better when the 545 arrives, and by then I expect our baby will be about a month or so old. How long are others getting estimated from time of order until delivery? My dealer placed the order on a 111 status car today and quoted 8 weeks.
Once again, thanks very much for a great forum.

Mine was about 7 weeks. I think the norm is 6-8 weeks. Once you get the VIN number via owner's circle you can track it on the ship and see exactly when it will be in port then plan about a week after that. Do a search of the forum and you can see how to track your oder via 3rd party web sites.

Thanks for asking: 545AI Silver Grey, black, poplar, wood shifter, comfort seats, Premium Sound, Sport Package, Nav, HUD, Sirius Radio, (PDC and bluetooth are now standard) and rear sun shades
MSRP $66,925, dealer is giving me $3K off which is $3K more than my local dealer, plus with the $1K rebate from BMWCCA, and $4K from my unused extended warranty on the Porsche that brings the total I am laying out for the car to be $58,925

Firewired, congrats on the new car. I know you'll be glad when you get it. Also congrats on the new addition. I know the 545i is exciting, but wait until that baby comes. Better yet, wait until they look you in the eyes and say Daddy for the first time! Much more exciting than the E60, but that takes nothing away from you new "baby". Enjoy it when it arrives, and be safe with the little one in the back!
