I have lurked on this board as I await the arrival of my 530I and I am an active member on the 993 (?97 Porsche 911) Rennlist Board. What I have found is that many of us post our problems with our cars and look for help. If you look at the postings you would think that the cars are plagued with problems. I am curious of how many have never used their warranty to fix a problem.

I've taken mine in twice to fix electrical problems but I think from now on I'm just going to try and fix everything myself. The reason I say that is because almost everytime I've had someone else do something on it, something else comes back broken. Usually it's the clips that hold stuff in place, so now I have things that rattle and it's driving me insane. I'm taking my car into the dealer this week and I'm going to see if I can't just buy a bunch of clips so that I can put everything back by myself.

During the first two years (warranty) my car has never seen the dealer (beside service). In the third year and after nearly 100.000 km a loose hose had to be fixed. Thats all.

Good point and poll. For me,

1. replaced faulty key transmitter and
2. did software update to allow MP3.

Good poll. I've taken my car in twice but both instances were mere nuisances than problems. Faulty oil service light that needed clearing from computer, and second was a faulty emissions sensor.
