Wow, they seem to keep dropping. They are almost in my price range now.

You guys they will drop much more when the new body style comes out? Anyone else tempted around those prices? I think I've even seen one as low as 35k.

Most DEFINITELY. I just dont want SMG, so I'm waiting it out a bit longer for the years with the manual's to drop more. As far as the body style goes, I think the E60 is beautiful and dont care if the new generation 5 comes out. My biggest issue is that you cant get 100k maint/warranty on an M.

Have you ever driven the SMG before? Don't get me wrong, I love driving MT, as that is "true" driving, but SMG is simply awesome.
You should be able to get some pretty sweet deals on a MT E60 M5. There are a bunch sitting on my dealers lot. Nobody wants the MT M5's. Only the SMG's sell, if not custom ordered. You should be able to negotiate the price down, quite substantially.

That's a mistake. The manual was built mainly for the US market, in that many of the older E39 M5 owners wanted a manual. However, the S85 V10 engine was built and designed strictly for the SMG transmission in mind. It was not designed around a MT. There have been countless articles about how the MT E60 M5 is not an ideal choice, as it doesn't utilize the engine's full potential and design. However, if you must drive a MT and are willing to give up some power, then I guess it will suffice.

M5 with MT is actually slower than one with SMG.

Wow, that's just ludicrious... Fine.. I'll buy it...

It's a good buy if you don't worry about resale value since it will scare people away.
