My Ride: Amethest Grey 530i--AC Schnitzer Kit all the way around--Quad Magna Flow Exhaust--20" MMR wheel 4.5 inch lip--
So were looking at buying a SUV but all the European models are a little out of our price range. We came across this 2001 X5 on ebay and may be interested I have never had a BMW over 90k so I don't know what to expect just want to see if I can get some inputs from the experts.!!!!

To answer your question directly, I would not even consider a BMW with this kind of mileage... it does seem like a pretty clean car though. I'd recommend that you check the carfax and take it to an independent mech. before you sign on the dotted line... I don't know, though - I would not buy this car. To me, it just seems like it might end up being a huge liability... sorry if I disappoint you, but I only say what I know to be the truth - nothing more, nothing less.

My Ride: Jet Black '05 545i, Sport/Premium Pkg, Steptronic, Adaptive Xenon, Nav, L7, Blue2th, PDC,
wow when i first read this i thought the X5 was over 90k dollars. whew...
anyway, considering the milage its "average". if you're gonna pay off then maybe. get carfax and do diligent research.
but if you're gonna finance, forget about it. do not finance a soon to be 10 year old vehicle!

Go buy a 1999 to 2002 Toyota Land Cruiser(should fall in to about what your looking to pay) and never look back. My wife and I had one and we both loved it. She really misses it and would actually perfer driving it over the BMW. Great trucks that are designed to run 200K+ with little to no issues. Very little up keep with these vehicles. You can feel quite comfortable buying one with 75K to 120K for miles. I fell between them and the Lexus LX they're the two best luxury SUV's on the market.
A high mileage BMW X, Range Rover, MB, etc. has a very high chances of costing you alot of money out of your pocket on repairs. There just not cheap to repair.
