Lurking for a few weeks, first post. Went to my local dealer today to spec out a 2005 545i. Test drove an M3 to experience SMG- what a rush! As others have recognized, ventilated seats are a dilemma (need other upgrades to get it). The rep said the 745 has vent seats and he's not impressed, really pushed me away from them- any thoughts? Also downplayed HUD, didn't have any cars with it to demo. Probable order: SMG, sports pkg, logic7, Nav, CWP, Heated rear seats, comfort seats, sunshades, sirius, and bluetooth (dealer installed, told it's $640). Was told not to expect much price flexibility- maybe 1000 off MSRP. Also was told $2000 deposit required, would take 60-90 days for delivery. Any advice, issues i haven't considered? thanks

pubsmeister,

Welcome to the Boards. I am in the same dilema. As far as the HUD, the general consensus is that if you have the Nav, spring for the HUD. It it a great combo that some people regret not getting.

Good luck with your choice.

Pubmeister, I believe that your dealer is trying to sell you something off the lot. They likely only get HUD in on special order. I would recommend special order and get the car specs that you want. That is what most of us have done.

My thoughts precisely, especially as the negative comment about the ventilated seats is the first I've ever heard!

I have to say that I've tried the ventilated seats in a 745, and I don't think they are worth the cost. I didn't really feel much of anything.

Ventilated seats are WAY OVERPRICED.

I am getting the comfort seat for $1,200 and thought it was a bit overpriced, but worth it because it included the lumbar ($575) adjustments. Now, I hear that MY05 includes the lumbar support as standard, but the comfort seat remains at $1,200. Suddenly, comfort seat became a rip-off option.

Now, the ventilated seat will cost you $1,200 (comfort seat required) + Nasca leather ($1,850) + Ventilation $1,025 = $4,075 + tax + reg = $4,400 OTD

Please note that 4 grand can get you a complete home theater with HDTV and surround plus a pair of massaging leather seats.

I just think BMW's options are priced way over market that's all.

People with nasca don't feel offended but:

I have seen the nasca leather on beige in real life and didn't like it too much.. The holes make it look rather rough and I didn't like the feel on the leather. Strange thing is that in holland we don't have to pay extra for Nasca leather. It's just as expensive as normal leather (3.274 euros).

Totally agree, speedracer. It's almost as if BMWNA has priced the priority one options to discourage their purchase.

I do really like the nasca and ventilated seats are nice, but not that nice!

I agrre it doesn't look that nice with the holes, that's why I chose the black nasca leather, because in black it's OK. Nasca doesn't cost extra on a German 545. So it's not as bad as it is in the US. For 4K I would probably not have ordered them...

don't buy smg on the basis of the version in the m3 - the m3 system is entirely different, both electrical and mechanical systems, from the smg version fitted to the e60. the m3 smg is much quicker
