Make sure you get extended lighting package, that's one of the best as far as I'm concerned. I got the all optioned 550i '06 and I couldn't be happier, but I didn't spring for the cold weather package as houston doesn't get that cold. You won't be disappointed with your purchase.

I love both Comfort Access AND Active Steering.

I remember taking a turn the other day at 30 mph and I only had to turn the wheel about 30 degrees off center - it was just amazing to be that in control of a car without working hard.

Personally I love this option. I test drove a non-as 550 extensively. There was NO difference in the steering feel between that and the car with AS to me. The AS is just much more responsive. No more hand over hand turning.

But this is me - you need to drive a car with it and without it back to back to determine if it is right for you or not.

OK......AS is back in, lol!! Seriously, thanks for this input......I've driven both AS, and non-AS......I like how AS feels, but I haven't had the time to really play with it.......but I loved how easily it worked at low speeds.....

I'm interested in some feedback from folks who have driven both also. I just ordered my 550 WITH active steering, but I'm in a "re-thinking" mode on that now!! I am not unhappy with my non-active steering 530 right now....and have only test driven the active steering model a few times......AND, given that the 07 price increases were a tad more than I was expecting, lol............

TIA for any input!
I was very dissappointed in the steering even without the active steering option until I switched from runflats to performance tires. I just didn't feel connected to the road as I had in previous BMWs. Problem is now solved. So it may be that active steering is fine if you eliminate the runflats.
