With regard to the question above, I can give you the down side. I am over three weeks into a software upgrade with no definitive date for when (if ever, it seems) I will get my car back.

what about the situation with my brakes though, what do you think I should do about it ?

It is mostly a matter of going easy on the brakes when they are new. Engines are partly ran in at the factory, brakes are not.
When they replace the discs, which they probably will do, run the new ones in gently.

They must fix the brakes at their cost. The car is only a few months old.
What I find strange is the service interval. Here in SA service intervals are every about 11000km, that's only about 6500 miles!! Same thing in our X5 and in my old M3.
Dont know why intervals are so much shorter here than in the rest of the world.
Something else, is that all new BMW's sold here automatically include a 60000 mile/5 year BMW motorplan that covers everything during that period. You do not pay a single cent for any work done on your car.
It's one of the biggest reasons why people buy BMW's here. Total peace of mind, dont care what it costs, just fix it!!
Anyway, hopoe you get your problems sorted out otherwise find another dealer.

Hi Jimbo,
Does the plan cover all servicing ie. brakes, oil, filters, wiper blades, battery etc. etc. ?
