Ok, I've been a member of the forum since 2004 when I bought my 2004 530... I happened by the dealership today, and ended up walking out with an upgrade! A 2007 530i, with a bunch more features than I used to have (cold weather, premium, sport package, automatic transmission, comfort access, power sunshades, nav, satellite radio).

The best part is my payment dropped by $200!!!!! The second best part is that my Treo 700w paired perfectly with the car. No more CPT 9000 for me! I was so upset when I found out my car was made 1 week prior to the Bluetooth TCU's back in 04. it's bugged me forever. No more.

Anyway, I ended up with the same color, etc. I love this vehicle, and other than maybe a 7 series, wouldn't dream of anything else.

I breifly considered a 550, but since I'm a pilot (not for a living), and can go much faster than that in the air, I decided against it. Also, I tend to get around 30mpg on the highway, so I doubted the 550 would get that kind of gas mileage.

Take care! I'll post picts later. Now it's off to re-hardwire my radar detector into the headliner near the rear view mirror!

james (and I guess I need to update my sig)

Congrats. With my Treo 700, the only contacts that paired are those saved in speed dialing. Did you get more than speed dials to pair?

No, that's what's supposed to be paired, and it worked fine. The deal is that the treo contacts are address book type cards (like a vcard), and the favorites are stored like numbers in most cell phones. Otherwise, if the whole address book transfered, the you'd have mulitple instances of the person with multiple numbers. It would overwhelm the system and BMW would have to accomodate a 'fix' for each phone type. The real culprit here is Palm one...

Assuming you'd want all those to transfer (I don't. I have 10000 names in my treo's address book).

later,

james

Hehe-

Congrats!

I am awaiting my 530i6 to come back from ED.
Late this week or sometime next week I should have it.
Excellent choice.

I used my razr during ED and it worked FLAWLESSLY.
Have since ordered all the parts to install it in the armrest allowing power and use of the "sharkfin" ant (3w).

I had a '00 540i6 and loved that V8 torque and blitzkrieg speed, but still got a 530i6 anyway. The 545 had good mileage when I test drove one over a weekend, but the 550 (once the 545 was EOL) was slightly faster, but MUCH worse on mileage, hence my choice.

For comparison my old E39 540i6 (which I also custom ordered) returned 18 city and 28-30 hwy (80-90 mph) which IMHO was stellar.

I took me 1 hr to remove my Valentine Once from my current lease yesterday and I await to reinstall in my new car.

Here is to the sweet hi-tech 3 liter, drive in good health!
It might not be the fastest, but it is very refined.

Well... In fact my Sony Erisson transfers contacts to the BMW as vcards. And BMW bluetoth is prepared to tag each phone type. For example, one contact in my phone with two phone numbers (one for business and one for home) appears in the car screen as two lines, one identified as 'H' (home) and the other one with 'W' (work).

"PEPE 5553467 (H)"

My GF has a Nokia 6021, and it does not work the same way: several lines for the contact but no tag, so it seems to be more a phone issue than a car issue.

Regards,

I thought the comfort access would be one of those features I could care less about, but I have to say, I think it might be one of my favorite.

congrats

How's the new engine in the 07 530 compared to the older less powerful 04 engine?
