Hi all,

I'm a newbie with my first post.

I've been reading info on this website, and I must say this is the most informative site hands down. Kudos to all of you. I was ready to order a 2005 530, but since reading posts on this site, I think I'll wait to order a 2006 530. This would be my first BMW. Does a BMW buyer have ANY negotiating power if ordering a 530 from the factory? Thanks.

KM

PS: I'll be ordering from a dealer in Bay Area, California.

Welcome KMonster. You certainly have negotiating power -- just like any other car. Some dealers are more willing to discount/negotiate than others...

Good luck!

Good luck on negotiating in the Bay Area w/ a car that has yet to be produced.

Be ready for some serious sarcasm from the the sales rep..

Welcome KMonster!

I saw BMW is now advertising a lease on the 545 for $599. Don't know the term, MF, residual but I would look into it. Maybe a good deal in advance of the 550 roll out.

welcome KMonster

you have the best negotiating power when you are a repeat customer with a good dealer realtionship

...but first time buyers that do their homework can make deals.... if you are considering the 530i, i would definitely wait to order, unless you are looking for a good lease deal which will soon take place as they have to sell the remaining stock...it all depends on if you are buying or leasing, the new engines may be harder to negotiate on at first, but the remaining stock should lease for a good price...

Wow! So many replies so fast. Thanks everyone for the welcome and advice.

soc fans, no real preference at this point. I had a good experience with the salesperson in Fremont. Mt. View has a very large stock (doesn't really translate to customer service though). Any suggestions?

I'm planning on purchasing not leasing. I was going to buy a 2004 530, but read some reliability issues with i drive on some forums and with 2004 being the first year for E60, I thought i'd wait for 2005. Now I here about 255hp and want to wait for 2006. This is it though, no more waiting! I realize waiting for later in the year to purchase the car would provide me with more negotiating power, but I wasn't sure I'd have much leverage if I'm going to order the car from the factory, regarding of time of year. Any thoughts? Thanks!
