I know that there is a fellow obsessive-compulsive individual such as myself on the forum who follows these things, so here's the thing.....MY car was released today(12/7) and is awaiting transport. Has anyone any knowlege of the next ship lurking out there that may be close by. Or maybe one that may already be there now and is not yet full? I know, I know, I need to get a life. Whattayathink? Thanks!

Check out www.wlna.com for vessels and schedules!
I think the next ships out are the Jingu Maru 12/09 arriving 12/22, Atlantic Conveyor 12/11 arriving 12/28, Maersk Teal 12/13 arriving 12/24, and Tristan 12/15 arriving 12/25, all of these ships reach NJ before the end of the year!
But it's a good idea to check the website often because schedules are subject to change!

Check with your dealer. They should be able to tell you what ship it is or will be on.
Welcome a board.
Mine was also out of the line 12/07/04. The next steps are;
"Vehicle was released to the carrier and waiting for transprtation to the port of exit", 160
"Vehicle is being transported to the port of exit"
"Vehicle is at the port waiting for the shipping vessel, there is no shipping info available at this time"
"Vehicle is in transit, pls contact your center for additinal tracking information"
Still we need 2+2+5 = 9days to start sailing....

Is that the norm 7 to 10 days after the vehicle has completed production before it's physically loaded on a ship?

Wow i want to be where you guys are at the moment...My car is still paper....Its awaiting to be scheduled for production...Question....now the information you guys are recieving on your car in process of production is from the main BMWUSA.com website or dealer...How is your production in so much detail...does the BMWUSA.com website really give you all that information or is it from the dealer...BMWUSA.com doesnt look like it gives you great deal of detail...just wanted to know what I can do to get the same information when mine is started production.
Information can be obtained in one of three ways. In order of increasing detail they are...
- BMW Owner's Circle web site -- fairly coarse level of detail
- BMW Customer Service interactive voice response system (1-800-831-1117) -- moderate level of detail and more up to date than the web site
- BMW dealer via vehicle status inquiry reports -- full detail but requires a cooperative and perhaps knowledgeable salesperson
The information I have is right out of the BMW system via my salesman, a very nice guy who indulges my curiosity/obsession.
