I rang my service dept. at Prestige BMW, Ramsey, N.J. for appts for my son's 02 325xi and for a few small items under warranty with the 550i. I figured since my son was driving home after a long frigid winter at Colby in Maine, that his vehicle (purchased through Prestige last August) should have a check up. It has been trouble free, thank goodness. The service dept rep. told me about their St Pat's Day special....oil and filter change. go over the entire cooling system, brake and rotor check-up, and fill all four tires with nitrogen with free refills for $100. Seems like such a good deal, I thought it worthwhile to pass it along to all of you in the area.

I like the nitrogen better than helium, as helium is too flammable, i.e. Von Hindenburg. Good news is that it makes me and my car feel like we are floating on a cloud. Nitrous oxide is neat, but it makes my car giggle. Oxygen is supposedly good for hangovers.

Still not sure what nitrogen does for me other than clean out my wallet.

Nitrogen in your tires is supposed to prevent internal corrosion of your wheels due to oxidation, as there is NO oxygen in them!

FYI Helium is not flammable. The Hindenburg was filled with hydrogen.

(I had a slow day today; too much time on my hands.)

Look at it this way, I didn't get the words right, but I had the right alphabet.

The deal is for anyone as long as it's a BMW you are servicing.
From what I understand nitrogen loss in the tires occurs at a much slower rate than if the tires are filled with air. Also the word is that mpg also increases.
Prestige normally charges $70 just for this!
