On top of the good advice that has already been given, I suggest that if you do call tirerack again to escalate the issue, you speak with at least a supervisor. It is bothersome that many companies that used to be VERY reliable seem to want to push the losses onto their customers these days. And in the case of tirerack, it is downright shamefull if they don't take care of you.

That said, I myself and most of my friends - for many years now - have been using tirerack and have never had a problem. Even when some minor issues came up, they've always been very good at rectifying. So I seriously hope that this is just an isolated incident and that its taken care off ASAP.

Good luck and keep us posted

Bingo. Without going into my gory details, very insightful question. Caveat emptor!

Here's an update:

After long arguments with customer service and told me that if the tire blow-up while I'm driving I will take legal actions against TireRack and Hankook, they called me back and offered to send me a replacement tire but I have to pickup the duty and tax for shipping the tire to Canada which came up to $67. I told them to go ahead as I got tired of arguing with these people.

P.S. the production date on the tire is 1808 which I suspect means January 8, 2008!

Well, shipping and duty seems a reasonable compromise. Still it shouldn't have taken threats of legal action to get them to respond positively. I am glad you settled it and hopefully your new tire does not have any issues, but I would still contact Hankook and see if there is a problem with that date of production or production run.
