I have been shopping around for a few weeks and I have leaning strongly at ordering a 550.

I will be buying, not leasing and will be selling my current car (330 Ci) outright.

What kind of deals if any are people getting on orders for 550s?

MSRP outright! No discount or may $500 off the sticker?

You will probably get 2 responses--
The realistic response is that you will probably have to pay sticker or close to it for the initial 550s.

Some will reply saying that got it for $500 over invoice plus free floor mats. There's always 1 guy on every forum.

I got 500 under MSRP

No dealer will let you walk away if you say you are going to buy one and thats the sticking point

Don't pay more then 2000 over invoice. That should be your limit. I know at first it will be hard cause it's new, but if you can afford to wait several months, it should be feasible.

I had one dealer offer me $1000 off and another $2000. From the sound of it they are both pretty darned good. I am waiting to hear back from one more.
Both were for mid-late November delivery to me (Sept build dates)

And of course there was the lame dealer that said they couldn't take orders for 550s yet. I walked of that one right away.

Absolutely agree. If you have the money go waste it somewhere else, but don't trick the dealers into thinking the car is fetching MSRP buyers.

Good for you!!! Can't stand this kinda attitude from dealers and general retailers all the same. They could've made a few thousand dollars by just picking up the phone and checking.

If you're in the US, go through Costco's car purchase program, or use Autobytel or Edmund's Preferred Dealer program.

I was in a similar position a few months ago, ordering my 2006 530i before they were available. Some people would say that since it's a new model that you should expect to pay sticker, but the dealer had no problem letting me have the car for the normal buying program discount. I got mine for less than $1400 over wholesale. I have even heard of deals that were slightly better than that.
