I have a 2006 530XI (11/05 manufacture date) that is experiencing Passenger Safety System malfunction errors. I just relocated to a city over 600 miles from my original dealer. When I called the local dealer today to schedule an appointment, I was told that they do not offer loaner cars to owners who purchased their BMW's at another dealership.

Are the details of the loaner program controlled by the dealer (as it seems), or by BMW? I can't find anything on the BMW USA web site.

If this is under dealer control, and this is the way the local dealer chooses to treat someone in my situation, then my next car will not be a BMW. This dealer will not get my non-warranty business (my 2003 330Cic just went out of warranty). My last dealer always gave me loaners even though neither of my two BMW's had been purchased from them at the time. My experiernces with their service department are what led my to buy my newest 5 from them.

I'll quit whining now, but I expected more from BMW and it's dealers...

I bought my car back at home in Chicago and I go to school in Ohio. I am only 22 and the dealer in Ohio graciously gave me a loaner car (but it was a red X3 ) when I was getting routine maintennce done on it.

I bought my car used from a non-BMW dealer. I took my car in for an oil change/software upgrade at my local BMW dealer and they gave me an '07 BMW 325. Not the greatest car in the world, but a BMW nonetheless.

My nice dealer was in Davenport, IA. The new, not-so-nice, dealer is in Huntsville, Alabama. So much for the myth about Southerners being so nice (and I'm a Southerner saying that!). I'm going to stop by and talk to the dealership manager. I don't want this to be my last BMW.

I bought and serviced my car from different dealers. The dealer that i serviced at offer BMW loaners for everyone, as long you are above 18 years old.
