When a car has been repurchased due to the "lemon law" and is resold, does the buyer still get the remaining manufacturer's warranty or is it void?

I am looking at a 2004 545 that was repurchased due to a faulty window motor. The issue has since been fixed by BMW, however, I'm sure the title will reflect that it was repurchased. I'm just curious to know if the warranty would still be intact. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

I looked in my warranty booklet and could find nothing to indicate that the warranty would not apply over its original term. But, you should check farther than me and the info in the warranty booklet. You could take the car to a BMW dealer and have them read the key info to see what comes up on the car. Good luck; the car might be a good buy. You could also get a Car Fax on the car.

The car was repurchased only because of a faulty window motor? That should've been easy to fix/replace. Sounds suspicious - I'd probe deeper for other issues with the car.

Anyway, I think the warranty would still apply to full term.

The full warranty should still be in effect, unless otherwise stated. Check with BMW NA and see what they have to say about the car.

I personally would NOT ever buy a lemon, no matter what the problem. The title is branded forever and you will have a very, very difficult time re-selling it.

Agreed. Plus it sounds very fishy that the car was lemoned due to a window motor--this is a fairly common issue. I suspect there's more to this than meets the eye. I'd find another car.

Who is the seller, and what's the cars price?

one of my QA employees had a dodge PU bought back under the lemon law. it had a oil drip that probably dropped one drop every so many days. he was just a pain in the xxx type of guy that thought a new car should not drip oil. so there's every range of car bought back under the lemon laws. you got to do your home work. if you buy one get the coniditions of sale in writing.

If it's a certified preowned BMW, you should have extended warranty.

I just learned that the manufacturer's warranty is still intact. In fact, I can CPO it for $1k to $1,500k. Evidently, the guy had to return to the dealer 3 times because of the window motor and demanded another car. Probably wanting a 550 and found an out! Anyway, I'm still hesitant primarily for the reasons outlined above... especially the resale value. No matter how innocent the reason buyers are still going to be skeptical. Still thinking....

Is the dealer selling it? What's the price? How did you learn what the problem was?
