I have leased a bunch of cars from BMWNA over the past 10 years, and although I believe I have done well in the past, in my heart I know you cannot beat these guys at their game.

Anyway all help will be much appreciated:

I'm looking at a 2009 550 with, Nav, sports pkg, sports trans, prem. sound, hd radio shades, comfort access, ipod adpt, and Ventilated Seats. The car lists out at $73,300.00, my first offer for a 36 month lease 15,000 per year is $2,000 off list only inception down, 1st month payment, dealer fee and plate transfer comes to $1,991 out of pocket.

Payment is $1,133.00 including tax ($1069.00 before tax)

Residual is 57% and money factor is .00175

Besides this being one hell of an expensive car, how much better can I do?

I cant help with the 550 because I just leased a 535. There were some knowledgeable people on here when i was asking these questions a week ago. I will say this though... Although everyone is quick to say it is a game, Keep in mind it is a business. These Salesman have to pay the bills and feed their families just like us. The best advice I received on here was If you get the car you want for the payment you want (within reason) and it feels right, than do it. I am paying 599 a month for my car and put 2500 down. I am happy. I couldnt imagine paying almost double that for a car that really doesnt offer much more than the new 3.0TT engine. I drove both, while the 550 is quicker, it doesnt justify paying twice as much per month.

just my .02

IMO, kinda high...no '08's out there you can get into for a better deal...not much difference between '08 and '09 besdies the iDrive controller AFAIK...

I will also add this... If you are willing to pay over a thousand bucks a month to drive a car, you dont really have a leg to stand on when haggling over a few dollars. i would imagine your ann income is well over $200K. that salesman is making a tiny fraction of that. I can imagine he isnt sympathetic to your desire to save 20 or 30 bucks

I live in Florida and I use the car for work, not just driving to and from, I drive alot and would love to get ventilated seats which are special order only, if I'm paying $1,000 per month, then I want to get the right car.

As for haggling over a few bucks, all I can say is whatever I save, it's better in my pocket than there's. I mean no disrespect to auto salesmen or anyone else. I'm guessing we all work hard for our money.

Ventilated Seats? For only $73K. That's a bargain.

Anyway, I plugged your numbers into a lease calculator and with $2K off MSRP it should be no more tahn $1,020 pre-tax. I would ask for $4K off and a target price of $960 pre-tax.

Thanks, their pre-tax number was $1069 which is close to your number, I guess my question is how much can these guys subtract from MSRP, the car I've built starts life at $60,000 thats a lot of options?

There were better deals in the spring. Since then BMW lowered the residuals acccelerating depreciation costs. For that kind of money I'd be looking at an 2008 M5 or if you can afford to ... wait.

Here's a hint as to how much better you can do. I got my '08 550i Sport in September for 13% off sticker. It was not even loaded, and I still got it for $8325 below sticker...well below dealer cost even. And I leased. My payment is less than $750 with NO "additional" money at signing....JUST first payment.

Keep looking if they don't want to come down any further than a measly $2K. You should be negotiating up from invoice, not down from sticker. On a 2009, I wouldn't pay more than $1K over invoice. Find a 2008 and pay close to invoice, if not below.
