Hi guys,

First 'official' post on the forum btw... (i posted in the A/C thread earlier)...

My grandmother is going to be buying a 525i, and she is going to lease it while trading in her 2000 C-class... (yes I know, 3rd MB convert I take credit for so far this year...)

I want to know, if she can order a car she is going to lease through the performance center... (I want to drive it from SC all the way back to Cali!!! )

So that is basically my question...

The proposed equipment list goes as follows:
- Titanium Silver, Grey Dakota Leather
- Cold Weather Package
- Premium Package
- STEPtronic
- Xenon adaptive headlights
- BMW on-board navigation system

Bringing the MSRP to $48,620 but the lease payments would be $116, considering the $18,000 ( a bit lower than KBB but ok) trade in for the C-class and the $1000 down payment... (36months/12,000mi)

What do you guys think... I think $116, is pretty sweet for a price... or is the BMW on-line lease calculator just having issues ? And can I drive it back from perfomance center even though its a lease car ?

welcome aboard, dantec ! majority of the people don't want to put a large down payment for a lease car. it's always better to get 0 down and whatever payment a month. your service advisor should let you know the diff. if not, have him/her punch in diff down payment numbers and print out everything for you. then you know what i'm saying .

Nah I don't think anyone would be safe with her in a 545i ! lol... I'm glad she is returning to BMW after fourr years of hell with MB and a couple with lexus (she used to have a '92 735i)...

But can I order a car she is going to lease and have it delivered to the Performance Center ???

I didnot do it myself, but I did look into it when I leased my car. My dealer told me it was perfectly ok to lease and pick up in SC.

What do I think?

I think US car prices want to make me cry.

You couldn't lease a bicycle for that in the UK.

You most certainly can, I have done that very exact thing. I pick mine up on Friday and will be driving it back to Denver. Have the break in done in no time.

I gave the dealer the information on the date that I wanted to pick it up. From there, they calculated when the order needed to be put in.

Just last week, I completed the paperwork for the lease, and sent it back to the dealer. They send the temporary plates to the Performance Center. The Performance center also needs about two weeks notice for any accesories that will be installed at the Performance Center so they can order them and get pricing. The prices are sent to your CA, and then they can finalize the paperwork. Just need to have copy of Drivers license, and copy of insurance card to the CA.

If you have any more questions, let me know. I did not have a trade in though.

Welcome to the forums.

I would suggest negotiating the purchase price with the credit for the trade-in first. Your goal is to get the at x dollars above the invoice price minus the trade-in. Always negotiate based upon dollars above invoice. Initially ignore the lease. After those numbers make sense, then negotiate the lease. With the lease you should research and identify the "buy rate". Your goal is to get the money factor at the "buy rate". Use Lease Wizard software to check what dealer claims he is charging you. Good luck.
