Can anyone advise what the average lead time is on the 535d in the UK at the moment?

It all depends on your dealers allocation. I bought mine through John Clark, Dundee. They had two slots to fill for 535d at the end of October; delivery first week December. I was told that because of the new ordering system cars can be 'specked' much later allowing customers quicker delivery times.

I suppose it makes sense. Dunedin, Edinburgh had a sport sitting in the window - if you don't want to wait at all.

I think all the dealers are keen at the moment to shift E60's .....A few Christmas bonuses to get

yes my dealer also has a 525d in showroom but with different spec
in order to get the exact spec you have to order and wait
i ordered sept 3 week 36 i think i am correct in saying that production only started week 40 due delivery next week i am in no hurry as where i live it is important (effects residual value) to have the car year 2005 not 2004
so going on road at 1 min past midnight on 1st jan 2005
hope this helps

My 530d Sport was the first sport model the dealer had arrive. So when I collected my car last week, it was in the showroom.
