The real scoop is first gen TCU is a hunk of crap and your friends will all tell you they can't understand a word you're saying no matter which phone you pair with the car. My wife's 06 330i and my buddy's 06 550i both pair as a completely different BMW device number (you see this on the phone when you pair) than my car. Their voice quality on Bluetooth is 10 times better than mine so I would have to assume that it was not ready for prime time and that's why BWM did not ship it activated...

my 2005 is also a 09/04 built. so can i get my BT update? to wht progman was it updated to? and is the sound good? from both outgoing and receiving? thx

i did do a search, yet found nothing. and i asked you coz u've already done it. Did u try another phone with BT to see if audio is better? for the upgrade, we know the SA, i think we can manage a much better price

as i understood from Rudy's post in the BT section. It maybe either the phone, or the progman. He said some progman do enable the bluetooth but there r specific ones that do give better sound than the acutall progman. Waitting for Rudy's response on my post in the BT section
