I've had shades on my last three 5-series cars. I leave them up all the time. No rattles, although if you drive around at highway speeds with the rear windows down, you'll soon find that the side shades will disconnect from the catch and start to flop around -- that will make a rattling sound!

As far as pros and cons, I like it better than tint. I don't live in the sun belt so for me, tint isn't worth it. I'd rather have the ability to raise or lower the shades as needed.

Also, you have to factor in the night visibility issues. With tint, you might reduce your ability to see out the rear in the dark. With the shade, you can lower it if you need to see better. Still, mine are up 99.9% of the time.

If I lived in a sunny location like So Cal, Florida, Texas, etc., I'd probably have tint (and maybe shades too) but for me, shades offer the most flexibility...

Any possibility of adding the sunshades later?

Not 100% sure but I don't think so. It's a factory install. I think trying to run the wires after the car is assembled would very costly, if it is at all possible.

I didn't want it but my CA ordered it by mistake. I "accepted" at a discount. I really haven't used it even here in 80F Florida. Will get tint soon but in the mean time I will play with it.

Haven't used them?? I keep them rolled up all the time, just to decrease the heat on the inside. Less heat, less wear to the leather/interior I believe, right?. It is also helpful if you have infants riding on the backseat
