My Ride: 2005 545i, Black on black. 6spd MT, Nav, sports package.
Hello everyone. I was doing some research on the car and ran across this board. Seems like an awesome group of 5-series-owners.
Anyway, 3 days ago I placed an order for a 2005 545i, black on black w/ 6spd manual & sports package. What sucks is i have to wait 3 weeks to get the car, because there were only 4 black 545's w/ stick at BMW dealerships in the US.
I am trading in my '01 Maxima, which is quite a big jump.
So here I am reading about how everyone enjoys their 545i's. These next 2 1/2 weeks are not going to be easy for me.
Is anyone here from around Chicago?

! 3 weeks is nothing for a lot of members in here. i waited 7 weeks even i didn't order my car 
. they just shipped it from mainland 
. from now on, read all the posts in this forum and that 2.5 weeks will fly by like a bullet

Wow, trading up from a Maxima to a 545 - you are in for the thrill of your life! The hard part actually may be keeping your foot off the floor during break-in!

Congrats Goyk, I just registered on this forum and like you I ordered my 545i this morning....
Mystic Blue, black leather, sports pack, prem sound with nav, and oh yeah... the SMG.
I was told between 10 - 12 weeks though and I'm trying not to think about it too much but it's hard not to be excited since I'm driving an Avalon right now and I'm bored as hell behind the wheel... good thing the wifey likes it very much though so it will all work out great!
