My car was just finished being built last Friday. How long do you think it will take to make it to Chicago? Anyone other than me just get their car built?

 

end of April sounds right. Rough figures: 7-10 days waiting at port to load on ship (can vary widely depending on timing of ships), 7-10 days in transit, then maybe 10 days to get through customs, VPC and delivered to dealer. Mine took right around a month from production to handing me the keys. Took 8 days from landing in Charleston to arrival at dealer in New Orleans. I assume cars headed for Chicago land in New Jersey.

 

I called the 1-800 number and they said it is at the dock and that they are done tracking it until it gets off the boat. Did some of your cars sit at the dock for a while before it got loaded and set sail across the pond?

 

Tdocz (on this board) should be able to give you a great estimate. I think he also lives in Chicagoland.

 

how much did it take to be built ? 2 months ? I?m ordering mine in may, do you guys think it will arrive befor august ? thanks

How did you get a breakdown on the timeline?

 

The boat has set sail and my E60 is coming across the pond. To answer a question ealier, I was lucky that my dealer traded with another dealer for an alocation right before it went into production (3/21). If he didn't do this I would have had to waited until June for my car. UPDATE! As I was writing this my dealer called and my car is due in New York by April 10th. YEAH!! I should be getting the car by the 17th!!! What a great day. Our dealer had another 545 that was the Orient Blue with a couple of extras on it and right before we pulled the trigger the dealer sold it. In the long run I can't wait for the 17th!!!

 

My nephews 525 is on the same boat as yours due on 4/10 in NY. Are you sure your dealer will have your car in Chicago ready fro delivery on 4/17? His car will be delivered in Harrisburg Pa and we're just trying to figure out when he can get delivery. My car is awating the next ship... I'm about 2 weeks behind you guys.
Were you able to obtain the name of the ship and track it?
