hey guys,
my car is coming in 3 weeks, so i called aaa to get an insurance quote and wowsers!!! the rep quoted me $1500/yr for full coverage!!!!! i'm under the "good driver" category and never been in accidents (at least not my fault..
) and never had any speeding tickets. i thought these are all factors that contribute what rates you get??? so is it because the car itself (maintenance or repair cost) that is why the rate is so high, imo. what are you guys paying for your insurance???? oh btw, if the geography matters, i live in brentwood, ca, a good 1 hr 15 mins from san francisco.

Unfortunately, car insurance is not all based on location and driving experience. Many companies use your credit score as a factor (as well as other similar factors).
I live in Florida, so I naturally pay a higher rate, but my rate is actually lower switching from a $40k Mercedes to a 530i because I switched to Progressive.
My recommendation is to shop around. The big names like Allstate and State Farm are probably a lot more expensive than the companies that advertise savings like Geico and Progressive. Most companies will be different.
Best,

I fear royal8 is in the Uk, which is why updating the profile with a location helps.
Get an online quote from www.confused.com and after that, also check BMW insurance department (you might be surprised) and then some other specialist brokers like A-plan or Barry Grainger. The specialise in more expensive marquees like BMW.
I pay ? 512,- pound (around $ 1000,-) for my 535d fully comp through the A-plan office in Epsom, including legal cover and full european mainland cover for 90 days

But keeping your locality in your profile will help.

For the last 14 years, I had MBs and BMWs. Wawanesa is my insurance company for 12 yrs. My current car is 05' 545i. My policy is the highest I can get with them. 100k/200k/100k, rental car, towing with $500 deductable. Annual premium is $770. Wawanesa is a very good co with highest respectable grade. They only insure "good driver" so they give really good rate. I never have problem with them. Call for over the phone quote. Good luck!!
