Have you tried Farmer's Insurance?

I have been with them for over 10 years, and never had a problem with any claims. I am paying about $700 per year for comprehensive with a $1000 deductible. I think with a $500 deductible it was around $800. I am sure the rates are higher in CA.

Here in IL, we have the right to get the car fixed anywhere we choose, and not where the Insurance company says. Do you have the same thing in CA?

yeah it depends on the Agent. Remember many of these companies, what they have are certified dealers. these people get paid for every person they get insurance for, so I wouldn't blame the "Mercury" company itself, if in doubt call the big boss themselves aka Mercury Corp so they can put them in their place . . Just gotta play your luck, for example I've had mercury for years, and the certified dealer aka agents were I go to are actually very good and friendly on many ocfcasions they have done what I consider a "hook up" sao my insurance wont go up. . So if you go to for example Geico and the retailer you go is run by incompetents tards (like your previous Mercury retailer), expect history to repeat itself

Hope this helps.

No, at the time, they were one of the cheapest, but I have had my policy with them for years so I don't know how pricing might compare now.
