My car has 49,750 miles on it and last week i brought it in because the tranny was acting funny and got a new one put in. Cha ching at that mileage! There was also a light out that they needed to special order so i brought it in today to get that fixed but also noticed a little whine from my A/C so i mentioned it to the tech. Now they are keeping the car overnight so i can get a new A/C compressor. All this right before the warranty expires!

Two expensive fixes just in the nick of time. Thank god.

its a 2005 545i with steptronic tranny. Mystic Blue with Tan interior.

I bought it about two weeks ago and since then i've added the black miro M6 wheels with falken tires and carbon fiber grills.

It is pretty mint though i'm a little gunshy with some of the recent repairs since i bought it...

Wow! That was in the nick of time!

Is this 'common' at that mileage to experience all of these issues?

How was the tranny acting funny? The dealer had no problem acknowledging this?

My warranty expired 75000 miles and 2 years ago. And I still manage to sleep soundly, amazingly. Like any other kind of insurance, the average cost of it (ie increased purchase cost of the car) is likely to be MORE than the average cost of repairing a car. I'm frequently puzzled by the obsession with warranties round here. But then I play poker too .
