I went to a local shop by my place and had the owner look at it. His shop worked on cars that were featured in magazines and such. Anyway, he said a PDR is about $150 and $800 to paint the whole door because it won't look good just painting the scratched area

Boooo~~~~ He's raping you. Just because he's worked on cars that were in magazines. That doesn't mean he can rob good people. Anyways, I can recommend a great PDR shop in OC (Huntington Beach) if you want to make the drive. http://www.beachcitiespdr.com/ These guys are great and the price is reasonable. I have all my dents pulled from these guys. $75 - 125 depending on the difficulty. Also, Yelp! a bodyshop that's just right across the street (Tri Star). Talk to the manager name Lawrence and tell him you got referred from the forum. They do all my body/paint work. As a matter of fact they just refinished my rear bumper and diffuser (pix on another thread). They have people who have been doing it for 20+ years. Good luck!

Well, I have an appointment with Jeff from Beach Cities PDR. I'm going to see him this Saturday. He says he should be able to get rid of the dent and quoted me $125 (since it's on the line). He won't paint, but I'm fine with that...for now. I'll keep my fingers crossed on this one.

***as stated, a PDR service might be able to get it done...if you don't want to go with that pdr service I linked, ask your local dealer who they use for PDR service's...is the M shop still in eagle rock? if so, I'm sure they can recommend a good shop local to you...

Yup, the M shop is still in Eagle Rock. Jon is very honest and does great work, at least that's the impression I got when they worked on my sister's E60.

Great to see Jeff's handy work again. I'd say just touch up the chip using the BMW paint stick and forget about it. The bodyshop will have to fill the chip, prime it, then shoot it with base and clear. They'll want to blend the adjacent panels too to blend the color. Too much $$$ for a little speck.

He did an awesome job. The light just reflects straight through and doesn't curve.

I have both the BMW paint kit and DrColorchip. One of the kids just closed the the door on the seatbelt latch and made a small scratch on the door sill I'm going to practice first on that before working on the outside.
