My Ride: Soon to be 2005 5-series
Both cars have sports suspension, xenon lights, sirius prep., premium:
530i = $665/month, 36 months, 0 down, $1600 over invoice.
545i = $825/month, 36 months, 0 down, $2500 over invoice, since he didn't have any on the lot.
This is the numbers I received from a local dealer.
Are these good numbers for a 3 yr. lease? I thought the 530i was priced right but the 545i seems a little high. Has anyone received a better deal on their 545i?
Thanks,
Leonard.

unless you have a write off capability from a business, I see no reason to lease, you wind up spend crazy $$$$ and end up with lint in your pockets after

... Buy what appreciates, rent what depreciates
and for the numbers get the money factor and residual values from the dealer, search this forum for the latest ones calculate the payment yourself - make sure they are straight forward with you if not go to some one else. I walked out 2 dealers before ordering mine

My Ride: 2005 530i - Alpine white with auburn interior; tip, xenon, pdc, sirius, prem, cold weather, red reflectors and xpel.
I think you can do better, but you need to provide more detail. A 3 year lease has a residual of 60% with a base 0.00125 money factor (3% which is better than Nov). If your car is about $52.5K, I think the dealer is probably providing a spread on the money factor. You have to negotiate the price of the car as well as money factor (see if you can get the base rate).

it all depends on what you mean by depreciate
now that i've paid off my car for over a year, every month I dont make a car payment is like adding that $$ to the value of the car, so its not a simple as buy/rent, as I see it as appreciating each month more then the value is depreciating.....

The 530I is a good deal, since I paid $690 for a 2001. The 530 is a great car with good power. Good luck.

The lease on the 530i that they quoted you is a great price....On the 545i, that is probably one of the lowest payments you'll get. Now if those prices you got include taxes built into the payment then I would jump right on it. Otherwise, if you are putting taxes up front then it is a good price...Maybe if you pushed hard enough you could get it $5-$10/mo. cheaper, but I spoke to a lot of dealers in the NY/NJ area before I got my 545 sport(optioned out just like yours) last month and based on their quotes $825/mo., with taxes upfront, was in the low range of prices I was quoted...
