I am still a bit incredulous that BMW is confident of a 15K interval, or something less/more depending on driving behavior, between oil changes. Since I'm leasing, I'll go with it.
I thought I had noticed a little lethargy in the peformance, so I was ready for this event.
Anyway, my indicator came on a week ago and today was the day. In all my prior vehicles, I've never gone anything greater than 5K mikes between oil changes. You know how your car drives after an oil change...runs smoother, a little more pep, quieter?
Yup, you guessed it , my car feels faster, smoother and quieter now.
It just purrs!
My SA had new wiper blades mounted as well, I didnt even ask. Not that I ever use the wipers, we have had practically no rain this winter.

I've got around 10,500 on mine and it's due for an oil/filter change (its second--I paid for the first one at 3,000 miles) in another 600 miles.

The car's computer uses several factors to determine when a service is due, in addition to miles driven (type of driving--highway vs. stop & go, aggressive vs. relaxed, etc.).

My dealer changed mine at 1100 miles, but purposely did NOT reset the counter. There was no charge, so there must be some provision for "break in" or long-standing oil in the service regs. They did it at the same time they changed my brake fluid, whose indicator had come on (elapsed-time based).
