Did as planned and ordered my 1st BMW as of today. My selection: 530xi + options. I want the 2006 year model with all new updates and fixes so I need to wait for production until September when the Germans start to produce the 2006 versions. Delivery will take place ~ October.

So...its just onehundredthirtydays something to delivery

My options:

Silver grey
Steptronic
Black leather
Titanium trims
124 Rims 18" (138 rims 17" winter)
Comfort package (Xtended AC, Adv. armrest, PDC, Bi-Xenon)
Advantage package (Cruise C., Alarm, Cupholders, Skisack, Foldable seats)
Comfort seats
Radio Pro + HiFi system
Heated Sport leather steering wheel
Sun curtain back window (automatic)
Heated backseats
Shadowline

Do I need to say..."Can't wait"

Hi,

Just curious, how you can get a 2006 version at this time? Just getting the new 255 hp engine is not equal to 2006 model year. The assembly of the 2006 versions starts in Sept. in the factory with shipping ~ 4-5 weeks after build date.
The 2006 model contains several updates (hardware and software) as well as a few material updates.

The "xi" models are released as 2006 versions. 2006 525i/530i/525xi/530xi/530xit are all out presently speaking. Why wait till September? I beleive the V8 e60 is coming out in September. I placed my order end of March and now my baby is "en route".

You are right that they are all out as 2006 models since the introduction of the new engine became the obvious model change. However, BMW changes their production line (e.g. inserts new specifications, updates etc.) only ONCE a year. That "once a year" is Sept. This means that all previous revision changes takes place at Sept production.

So to clarify this means

An E60 bought from ~March (new engine) will go as 2006 model
An E60 bought from ~Sept will go as 2006 as well but including revision updates

P.S.
The E60 model line offered in Europe (where I live) contains some more combinations:

523i E60, 61
523d E60
525i E60, 61
525d E61
525xi E60, 61
530i E60, 61
530d E60, 61
530xi E60, 61
535d E60, 61
545i E60, 61

All I know is that the big window sticker that came in the car says: "The Ultimate Driving Machine 2006 530i" It sounds like there will be additional updates later this year.

Cheers, Jon.
