Extended Warranty
Last year I bought my 2004 530d from a BMW dealer with 12 months warranty. I have just missed the opportunity to renew my used car extended warranty. I was away at the time. How many other owners are driving around without any warranty? I realize doing so is very risky with the e60's idrive and other electronic features. Any comments, especially those with reassurance will be appreciated!!

double check that the warranty even covers electronics... most dont cover idrive and software updates... which is the majority of the problem with E60s
My Warranty runs out May 31st. I got a quote from Mercury Insurance, Platinum plan, Covers almost everything...including I-drive and electronics.......4 years from the warranty purchase date and 75,000 total miles runs $2,440.00 . They also offer 0% financing. Good Luck

KeithL,
Would you update your profile so we can see where you are located please??
I could give you some advice, but it is UK based and pointless elsewhere in the world.
And no, you're not the only one with an "old" E60!!!

Keith,
Whilst I am not decrying other companies that I have no experience with;
I have an extended warranty with Warranty Direct. It's a shame you have run out of Dealer warranty, as the entry to Warranty Direct is cheaper if your car is still under manufacturers warranty - and you get to start it from when the manufacturers one expires.
From the research that I did, Warranty Direct seemed to cover more things than others, although bear in mind that it is an insurance company, and it will try and wriggle out of paying anything. Software isn't covered. It has an option to specify Dealer or Indy repairs - Indy is cheaper, of course.
Get a quote on line, but don't accept it - wait for a couple of weeks - they will do a follow-up phone call and make you an offer. My initial quote was nearly ?350 IIRC, but it ended up at ?295 for 13 months cover, with Dealer repairs. BMW wanted over ?1000, and that's an Insurance based one too, as is the AUC one that you had. You won't be able to make a "wear and tear" claim for 3 months - I had this waived because I paid a deposit of ?30, and had 3 months left on my AUC warranty before the WD one took effect (they must have needed the business!). You must have had a service recently as well (Indy or Dealer) - but that's only sensible.

Thanks for the information Mike.
I did an online quote and was offered warranty for ?418, nearly ?800 cheaper than BMW's.
