Hello all,

I just bought a a CPO 2004 545i, sport w/ steptonic w/ 44k miles. The original Warrantee is good until 4/20/08 or 50k miles.

The dealer is offering an Extended service plan for 6 yrs/100k miles whichever comes first for $1850.00. I average about 11.5k miles per year, so this would expire 4/20/10.

Is this is a good value?

If your dealer mentioned "Extended service plan" please note that this only covers the scheduled service maintenaince. This is not a warrantee, the extended warrantee is usually more.

If he bought a CPO, he's already got the extended warranty. If your original warranty ends 4/08@50K, then your extended warranty will end 4/10@100k.

Check out www.twinkidneygrill.com and see if the extended maintenance is cheaper there. This is a BMW dealership out in Atlanta. I bought mine there for $1,195.00 but this was before the price increase a few months ago. Use the code fest for an additional $50 off.

Ya service and warranty is different.

It might be worth it... calculate what you need to replace between now and the time the extended service expires... considering Full brake replacement is about $1200. Oil change about $100 Air Filters $60 Oil Flush every 2 years...

Yes, I was talking about extending the factory SERVICE plan for two more years. At what mileage or service interval do the spark plugs get replaced, and how expensive would this be?

Dean,
I just ordered a new 535I for late October delivery and bought an extended service contract for $1500. I did some research and found the same cost for a full brake job as was quoted above. If you figure the first time you need brakes, the dealer is going to try to get away with just doing pads, your second brake job is going to be pads and rotors. This is most likely going to occur during the second 50K covered by the extended agreement. I figured with the other longer term items likely to go out, it was worth the money.
