Does anybody have anything good or bad to say about BMW's extended warranty options. I guess the extended maintenance sells for $1195, and gives you another 2 years/50k miles. The extended warranty sells for $3249, and give you the same timeframe.

How many people have purchased one of these? Which one?

What did you pay?

Have you found that it pays for itself?

Are you glad you purchased it?

Thanks!

I have extended the maintenance plan on my last two 3 series cars, the mnt. expired before my lease was up. I found it to be worth it because BMW covers brake jobs along with tune ups etc. But I only paid around $350.00 for one additional year. I do not plan on doing this with my 545 because BMW has since extended there mnt. program from 36000 miles. Good Luck

I purchased the extended maintenance for my 2004 545i from BMW -- from a purely economic perspective, it was a good trade off since a 4 wheel brake job would probably cost what I paid for the extended maintenance.

However, BMW did NOT offer any extended warranty on any of its cars at that time -- you could only purchase an extended warranty from a third party provider, which creates a substantial risk that some/many BMW dealers would not honor such warranty or exclude most of the important stuff. If BMW (the manufacturer) offered such a warranty, it would be worth looking into depending on the cost (at the time, the dealers were offering a 6yr/72K extended warranty for about $2K).

welcome Stoley

if you are in the US, you get 4/50 included, and can extend now to 6/100, i'd do it if you plan to buy and keep the car....

Just want to add one thing..... There is NO need to buy the extended warranty/service at this time, you can buy it anytime from any BMW dealer prior to the 4yrs/50k is up to do so. It makes NO economic sense to make the purchase at this time. I have better things to do w/ my money for 4 year, and I hope you do too!! <_<

Beewang...I would be VERY surprised if BMW keeps the warranty/maintenance extensions the same for the next 4 years. If they are not making the margins they expect, they will increase the price, or change what the contract covers. I'd bet that in 4 years it would have been less expensive to buy the warranty at today's price - even if I am making 13%+ on my money.

This is why I'm asking how many of you have purchased it, and how many people feel that they got a deal (i.e they would have spent more on maint if they paid out of pocket)

Thank for everybody's input!

545i ti gray metallic fully loaded except no comfort seats. Steptronic.
