I am not the original owner of my car, and I was still able to get the extended maintenance. you can buy it as long as its under 4 years 50k. Got the dealer to price match twinkidneygrill's price (1595$) when i showed them the print out. I just got it back from service recently, and they did change out both pads and rotors along with oil change, the cabin filter, and wipers. The brakes didnt need to be done for 5k miles, but the SA saved me a trip.

The maintainance plan that BMW dealers offer is for 2 years, 50K miles. It goes into effect when the original warranty expires at 4 years or 50k miles, not when it is sold. There are some catches in the fine print. First, dealers charge all they can get for the plan. My dealer asked $3495 for it and after I said no, reduced it to $2495. BMW suggested list is $1695 but as an earlier poster said, can be bought for a s little as $1595 from www.twinkidneygrills.com. Now if you buy it remember it covers BMW factory maintainance schedule. That means an oil change every 15,000 miles, not whenever you want one. On brakes, they are covered "when" the brake wear warning sensor light goes on, no earlier. One other thing to note. I've been told that when you have the brakes done with BMW paying, they replace the pads but almost NEVER replace the rotors. When you have them done on your expense, they always insist you need rotors. IF you drive 50,000 miles in 2 years, that makes 3 oil changes and maybe 2 brake jobs, but probibly one. My independant charges $100 for an oil change with complete inspection using genuine BMW synthetic oil and filter, He gets $600 for a brake job using BMW pads and new rotors. I know the dealers are plenty more, but its just routine mainatince, not space shuttle service. Do the math and ask questions, even at $1595 it doesn't payoff. It is a BMW money maker.

It may just be a local dealer issue. My dealer replaces pads and rotors and the cost comes close to the cost of the plan at $1700.

But you are right about the Idrive system telling when it can be done.

I ran into the same problem some weeks ago. The web site disappeared.

I recall that the site was run by a dealer in Atlanta/Georgia. Maybe calling every dealer in the ATL area for a quote would be in order?

Word most likely got around that BMW ATL was doing this and while the BMW MSRP was $1600, being able to charge what they wanted too was a huge money maker and they complained to BMW NA.

I wouldn't be surprised if now its only able to be sold if they verify your car info via your key, thus forcing it to only be locally sold.

My father and I have gone to court with Subaru NA and Subaru of NE over 20 times for doing shit like this.

We havent lost a case yet.

I spoke to Rodney a couple of months ago and yes, he is no longer able to sell the extended maintenance plan. He did not give a specific reason but gave me the impression that other dealers were causing problems with BMW NA.

Check my threadHere

where I posted my experience shopping for a BMW Extended Maintenance Agreement

I hope this helps!

Spoke with Motowerks, Barrington, IL last night.

They offered my $1695 for the extended maintenance. I think I will be going for it.

Curiously, I called at least three other dealers in the area, and none returned my calls. I guess they don't want my business.
