Hello from Italy!

I've been following this forum for quite a while, and it helped a lot making my final decision and decide for an E60 which arrived less than two months ago. Unfortunately, it was just a matter of weeks before issues kicked in: with barely 5.000kms of otherwise delightful driving experience, last week my check panel popped up two warnings, one about a malfunctioning start assistant and a more worrisome one about driving control beng out of order, with possible stability issues when cornering (sorry, that's a rough translation from my italian setup). Both warnings, of course, advise me to get my car serviced ASAP.

I kinda figured out I've just been unlucky, but having a luxury car should have meant something, so monday I happily went to a local dealer, just to find out that yes, I indeed had a problem, and no, they wouldn't have been able to service my car before July 26th (yes, 23 days of waiting!), and repair could have taken a while. On top of that, I was told it would have been my sole responsability if I kept on driving my car and there was no policy nor intention to provide me with a courtesy vehicle.

Given I, as most of you I guess, have to drive for a living, I tried to contact BMW Italy, where a nice guy told me the dealer was wrong, those kind of warnings (DSC related, apparently) lead to immediate recovery and - of course - a courtesy car together with a lot of excuses. I was told to drive my car back to the dealer and have them phone BMW if they had a problem. The smile on my face turned to a grin when I headed back to the service, where the guy talked to BMW Italy and then confirmed they were leaving me out in the cold, and I had to wait 20 days at least before entering the repair queue, of course with no courtesy car whatsoever. This was later confirmed by BMW Italy itself, and a message to the customer service still has to get a reply.

So here I am, with a brand new supposedly top quality car telling me I might die at the next cornering, with a luxury vendor treating their customers as crap. I seriously hope your experience has been better, but I will seriously reconsider buying BMW again given the way they're handling their service. Meanwhile, does anyone have any advice on what to do, exp. with regard to that warning and how dangerous it might be?
