Just wondering how long does it usually take for E60 service in dealerships?

My last 3 services all required overnight. (software update, no parts... software issue.. all kind of shit excuse). Why they just can't get it done same day?

Call ahead and set an appointment for future date. This usually means that they will schedule it so you won't have to wait more than few hours.

I have been in many times for various reasons. My car has never stayed overnight. But, I don't give that a chance to happen. I take work or play with me and always am a "waiter." I just enyoy the coffee, donuts, hi-def TV, and looking at the cars when not fooling with the work or play I take with me. And, my SA takes care of me. Once he warned me not to do a software update on a Friday because if the process bombs out and they have to start over, then my car would have to stay over the weekend.

Good point. But I have to get back to work so I really can't stay there to wait.
Another thing about Southern California dealers are they only give shitty loaner cars like compact American/Japanese cars. (except for Creiver BMW has limit 3 series loaner)

I really think this issue depends on the type of service and the particular dealer. Mine has a ton of BMW loaners and I wouldnt mind putting the miles on their car. Mine usually gets the work done in the same day.

Not true. New Century BMW gave me a 530xi as loaner last time. You need to researve for a BMW loaner, if they run out of BMW loaner, then they will use Enterprise rental cars (American/Japanese cars)

Lucky you. New Century in Alhambra only gave me a 328i loaner one time when I was their customer, because they couldn't fix the problem and asked me to leave the car there for 3 dyas.

I am complaing about loaners. I just feel they are slow getting car serviced. Especially for software realted issues. Feel unhappy when I don't see my car in the garage....

Wow, I can't believe you guys are complaining about a loaner. I had to pay for a rental because my dealership doesn't offer loaners. I'm not upset about it, but it would be a nice courtesy to have. Regardless, I know this topic has come up, and it all depends on the dealership. They can either take the hit and put loaners out there, or work a deal with a rental car service.

For software, I'd would get nothing but a 7:00 a.m. or 8:00 a.m. appointment. I had a 7:00 appointment for software once, and they had to start over on my car when the upload bombed. I was not paroled until about 4:00 p.m. So, if they start much later, and the process bombs, then your car may have to spend the night. And, remember that a 7:00 a.m. appointment, for example, does not imply that your car necessarily will get hooked up right away.
