Was speaking to the dealer, he said price is going up for any cars delivered after 1st March. They will honour the old price for any orders placed before 17th december though.

He said increase was about ?800 on the 530D

Luckily I placed my order 1 week before their deadline

The prices in the USA increased about $500 - $1000 on every single BMW model since Jan 1. Nice way to start the new year

Why the price increase?

The rising Euro ?

Upgraded gadgets/specs?

Just curious.........

Definitely because of the Euro. The car already increased in price enough to cover any new design production costs when it was first introduced.

I'm willing to bet we here in the U.S. will begin to see these price increases quarterly, with the next one at the end of March, until something starts to change between the currencies.

yup right..its because the euro. the dealer told me so. BMW no longer can keep it up with the euro..they have been suffering for this past months.now BMW NA must incs the price. new 5 inc to 500 per car.

the bad thing is...even if i order the car to be built in dec and delivery for feb/march..they keep charging me with the increased price. soo bad...

I know that the introduction of the particulate filter on the 530d during the spring will lead to a price increase. Maybe this will happen in March in Europe?

Hi from Spain, I'm afraid so, actually I think the rise will be come into effect here on February 1st , and we use the euro here, so it seems it's not only related to the currency exchange rate.

bye, adi?s

That's crap. I remember BMW on CNBC about six months ago, bragging about how they were hedged, and that they were so proud of themselves for setting up the plant in the US (Spartanburg, SC) and that they could handle currency fluctuations. As far as I am concerned, all they did was give the dealers a little more margin or perceived discount to the customer. NO corporation that large that does business internationally should be falling asleep at the wheel (pardon the pun!) when it comes to currency fluctuations. They pay the largest finance companies in the world to manage that stuff.

That having been said, I am taking Euro delivery of an Oxford Green 525i on March 17th (St Patrick's Day!). Also, I didn't pay the increase, even though it supposedly applied to all vehicles delivered after 1 Jan 04.

To that extent, why would the Z4 or X5 have any price change, since they are built in the US (I know there are a bunch or European parts, but still)?

Must be worse for the Americans with the drop in $US

What's it like over in SE Asia?

The prices will change in Germany as well, starting March 1st. <_<

The pricing will we:

BMW 530d 35.905,17 + 16% VAT = 41.649,72
The old price was: 35.000,- + 16% VAT = 40.600,-

Around 2.55% increase.

I will order mine next week and due to the particle filter (strating March standard on all E60 diesel - Ru?partikelfilter) you save in Germany more than ? 2.000 on tax.
