HI GUYS.
I JOINED THIS SITE ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO AND LET ME START BY SAYING IT HAS BEEN VERY HELPFUL.
I HAVE POSTED A COUPLE OF ISSUES REGARDING MY SITUATION AND HERE IS ANOTHER ONE WHICH AROSE....
I ORDERED A 2006 525I IN THE MIDDLE OF AUGUST. NOW FOR WHATEVER REASONS THEY CAN'T DELIVER THE CAR UNTIL DECEMBER. IT WILL BE A NOVEMBER PRODUCTION.
THE SPECS ARE AS FOLLOWS: 2006 525I 6 SPPED MANUEL SILVER GRAY ON AUBURN, NAVIGATION PACKAGE, SPORT PACKAGE, PREMIUM PACKAGE, SPORT SEATS, ACTIVE STEERING, ADAPTIVE BI XENON HEADLIGHTS, ACTIVE STEERING AND THE HARMON KARDON L7 SOUND SYSTEM. I AM IN MONTREAL CANADA BY THE WAY SO PACKAGES AND OPTIONS WORK DIFFERENTLY HERE.
I BASICALLY ORDERED THE CAR AS LOADED AS THEY CAN COME...
NOW ONE OF THE ISSUES I HAD WAS WITH THE SPEED, I WAS SCARED THE SPEED WOULDN'T BE ENOUGH AND THE 530I WAS JUST TOO EXPENSIVE...
I AM LEASING THE CAR.
NOW MY DEALER TOLD ME THAT HE CAN FIND ME A 2006 330I WITH BASICALLY ALL THE SAME SPECS AND DELIVER IT TO ME BEFORE THE END OF THE MONTH.
SO HERE IS MY DILEMA. SHOULD I WAIT FOR THE 525I UNTIL DECEMBER OR SHOULD I JUST TAKE THE 330I. NOW THE 330I IS QUICKER AND IT WILL BE IN MY HANDS WITHIN THE NEXT 2-3 WEEKS.
I PERSONALLY PREFER THE LOOK OF THE 5 SERIES BUT THE 3 SERIES IS NICE AS WELL...
NOW THE PRICE ON A 36 MONTH LEASE IS ABOUT THE SAME THING FOR THE 525I IORDERED OR THE 330I LOADED UP THE SAME WAY...
I AM VERY CONFUSED AND ANY INPUT OR SUGGESTIONS YOU WONDERFUL PEOPLE MIGHT HAVE WILL HELP ME ALOT.
THIS WILL BE MY FIRST BMW...
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK I SHOULD DO AND IF YOU CAN GIVE ME SOME PROS AND CONS AS WELL THAT WOULD BE GREAT.

What's up with ALL CAPS?

I would wait on the E60. Most of us here are partial to it. Have you test driven a steptronic E60 and used the manual mode to ONLY see what speed you can get? I'm not advocating for you to move on to the Step. I'm just asking whether you have driven one to just "sort of see" what the 525 can produce. I currently have a 525 and the car will totally "get up and go" in manual mode.

 

I am sure you are not shouting .
May I ask, how much are you going to pay for the lease 525? thanks!

Sorry for the caps it's just that letters seem so small on my laptop that i ususally use caps so that it comes out clearer...
The lease wll be 770$ tx in with 6000$ tx in. That's in Canadian dollars by the way.

 

Your decision really should lie with your needs. Is space more important than power/handling? Do you want to have advanced features like I drive? I have a 545i, but get a kick out of the new 330 and driving my wife's 2002 330xi. the new 3 is less controversial styling wise, but that is ia personal choice.

All else equal, I would go with the smaller quicker car. but there is the safety aspect of a slightly larger car...whatever.

 

Well i don't need the space because i don't have a family... I'm 26 years old. though i still prefer the look of the 5 series...
i know that within the next couple of months we will start seeing the 3 series all over the place, there will be a bunch of them on the road. Just like the previous model. And I think that the 5 series is more exclusive.
You don't see as many on the road.

The E90 build quality doenst seem as nice and solid as the E60 IMO... I would wait for the E60. The E90 even tho its quicker and all its eh... i cant say it... its a cheapie BMW I kinda find the quality not there till you reach the E60 level.

 

I would go with the 5 series. And, it too will have all, or most of, the latest and greatest features. Also, I do prefer the looks of the 5 series. You many end up having to trade off looks versus quickness. Or, you maybe you should get a mostly optionless 550i. ~0{;^)
