I bought my car for ?39,000 in Sept 03 and after 18mths of ownership will have covered only 21,000 miles when I trade up for my next car at the end of the month. They are giving me ?29,000 for mine and discounting the new one by ?2,500 so in reality I'm only getting ?26,500 a loss of ?12,500. As the traded car has a desirable spec and is in mint condition they will probably sell it for ?29,000.
Does this sound like a good deal? Anyone got any experience with this yet? Out of interest its worth asking your dealer what they will allow against a new one! You'll certainly grab their attention!

?694 a month. Not too shabby considering that the biggest hit is the day you drive the car of the lot. Thats why I lease.

I've seen the expected depreciation for E60's in the US, but anyone know we should we expect for our European E60's by year?

My Ride: Now: 325i (E90) with auto-airco, PDC, buss-nav, Xenon..... Earlier cars: 520i (E60), 523i (E39), 520i (E34), mini-1000 (all cars: man. gearbox!)

I've bought my E60 520i for approx 51,000 Euro, i've got back 31,500 Euro in March.
I can say the old (E39) has al less value 'drop' as the E60. I've had de E60 for 16 months. For example de 1st E39, i bought it for approx 110,000 guilders and sold it for approx 80,000 guilders after (almost exact) 2 years!!!
I know that was a couple of years ago, different times, different 'market'(?) But still i get the impression that de E60 is not so good as the E39

Remember you loose a lot on the options purchased with the car. They don't hold their value very well at all.

I got my E60 when 3 months old and it was ?7000 off the original new car price (nearly ?40000) and that was at a main dealer. Dread to think what the part ex value of the car was after 3 months for the previous owner (maybe ?31500).
The car only had 350 miles on the clock too.

My car was of similar value (lots of options) and planned to keep it at least 4 years (I've got the 5 yr service inclusion...) However, ?29k sounds great because 1st year depreciation is highest and options often lose their value at trade in time. (Leather/auto excepted)

I might have to visit my dealer if I can keep it from the wife...!

They do seem to depreciate rapidly. I purchased mine from BMW dealer, 7 months old, 400 miles only on the clock, owned by a BMW accountant , at ?10000 off list price for the spec!! Hopefully shouldnt depreciate too quickly now.
