Hey guys, I just got the update on my long-awaited E60.
Apparently, the delay in delivery will be even LONGER than I thought and than they initially told me. But it is not due to the BMW's general strikes but only some "mistery strike" at "this M-pack producer"!!! I am just getting a little angry now since nobody is capable of telling the actual pick-up date! All they could do today was to suggest me to change the order and get rid of the Sports Pack! They actually confirmed that the standard delivery time (order - to pickup) is no longer than 3 weeks here!!! So, if I'd get rid of sports pack now, I could still even change the color, etc and have my BMW delivered first week of May! Otherwise, they said I should expect late June, or later... What's going on???

So , guys, I'd appreciate if anyone has any further info on issues such as:
- is there only one factory building E60s with M-pack in Germany?
- If so: do they produce all the "components" by themselfves (I mean like: spoiler kit, lower suspension, sport seats, M-steering wheel, 18" 135 type wheels, alu-cube inside, etc)
- perhaps only one of the suppliers of the above is blocking their deliveries for BMW, hence it blocks the whole car building?

And I was so happy to finally decide to go for a sports pack - for me it was the best option from the list, and now I would have to get rid of that?

Please, advise!

I am pretty sure the stealer is selling you BS. Try another dealer and see what he answers. You may still order M-Pack from another dealer and get it in first week of May.

If I had to bet, I'd say your dealer sold the car you ordered to someone else.

Exactly my thoughts. They had a good deal and thought you're the one they will foul with.

Ask for some official papers from BMW, that mentions this delay. Strike? At BMW? At their partners? Hmmmm...

Is there a number for BMW is your country? We have BMW North America who we could call on this issue. Sounds like a lot of BS.

Have not heard anything about it here. Cancel the order and make that short trip to Germany and order your car there

Concerning Your questions:

E60s, including those with the M package, are built at the Dingolfing plant in Bavaria.
Of course, BMW does not make the M parts themselves, but buy it from various suppliers.
So, theoretically, it is possible, that a strike at one of the suppliers can delay production.

BUT, the current strikes in the German car and supplying industry have so far been only warning strikes, for a couple of hours, max one day, although several BMW suppliers have been hit. Those warning strikes are a ceremony accompanying the negotiations on worker wages every other year. I don?t think, that so far, they had any effect on the ongoing production of cars at BMW or the availability of parts.

So, probably Your dealer is just giving You a lot of crap.

Sound like BS to me. I ordered my car in the UK (530D M Sport) at the end of February and was told it would arrive about now, and it turned up yesterday. Doesn't sound like there are many delays !!!

HEY GUYS,
I just got this bad bad bad news from my dealer. Due to the fact that there were some strikes last week at the Bayerische Motoren Werke factory in Leipzig (over some wage negotiations, or so) all the scheduled deliveries of the cars for Luxembourg must have been postponed for up to 3 or 4 weeks!!!! Imagine that!
I was promised in February my car would be here just around Easter - or the late April - the latest (since on Apr 29 I will have my birthday - such birthday gift sounded really cool back then ), but now as I receive a dealer's phone call with these bad news - I might expect to pick up my silver m-pack beauty somewhere in the end of May? C'mon BMW.....

If anyone has more info or any kind of insight on this subject - please share...
This is terrible - but perhaps you can trade with some of the guys with the opposite problem
