Don't know what I'll get for the 535d - we'll have to wait and see.
Thinking of a M5?

I notice on this forum there's not a lot of people changing cars!
I want to but not quite yet... If the 'updated' 535d comes out I'll consider but I've decided I love the M5 (Saw 2 yesterday in central London!) but I wouldn't buy it new - I think the depreciation will be sizeable once the the 'rush' is over... Thinking of a 2 year-old example for <?40K?

In the US, they seem to be holding up well - especially in comparison to other cars. A 2003 MB E500 can be had in the mid 30s, (I know because a friend picked one up for $36K), but a 2004 545i is still north of $50K in all but the rarest of cases.

Carmax, about the cheapest you'll find any car used has 4 2004 545i cars for $47K, $48K, $49K, and $50K respectively. All with low mileage. They don't have any E60 6 cylinders, but I seem to recall they had some 2004 530i examples for $42K-ish at the lowest and some that were higher.

I have actually never seen any 545i examples on the Carmax website until now, and these 4 are out of more than 20,000 used cars in their national inventory. If someone can't find one there, they're forced to go to a much higher priced dealer used car or a slightly higher priced private seller - meaning if you sold privately, you could do better than these figures.

If we're talking actual dealer trade-in... I mean come on, that's the equivalent of a carnival game. You're not supposed to do well, and both parties know it.

What do you think the updated 535d will be? Or do you know?

Just following the 530d update... Probably about 290PS/590Nm and a bit lighter because of the block...
