I went in for routine service at the local BMW dealership (I have 44k miles) and the SA strongly suggested that I do the "fuel injector" service which is NOT part of the Free Maintenance program. Do you think this is worth it or is it a rip off at $200?

Yes! Unless you are noticing some performance/engine issues, I'd pass...
This is a warning to all! BMW Dealerships will try to sell this to you, don't be stupid like me!

Damn it, I called the SA and they already did the fuel injector service so I can't have it cancelled! He just gave me a discount. I hope it makes a difference in performance.

Techron, $8.99. Follow CWS530 (the guy drinking espresso at the Piazza) on here and add a bottle to a tank with about 1/4 left, then add another bottle and fill the tank. This worked great. Big plume of black smoke at one time I started and car seems to run great. Cheap fix. Live and learn.

But it is NOT required nor recommended by BMW.
It's one of many high-profit sales tools at the disposal of the service department. You said the SA offered you a "discount" ... IMHO you should get a refund since his recommendation was NOT your authorization to perform a non-essential service!

also, most top tier gasoline uses detergents to prevent carbon build up. you can also run the engine real hard to clear things up.
